What does a visit with DR. BLACK look like?
‍We will start with getting the basics of your health history, medications, surgeries, etc. Then Dr. Black wants to hear what YOU have to say about what YOU are feeling and what has happened. This is the most important part. Every person tells their own story and often the answer is in the history!
Then Dr. Black will do a thorough physical exam mixing her deep understanding of biomechanics from osteopathic medicine and general orthopedics. This will also generally include a functional exam involving the movements that are causing pain, looking at your shoes, watching you walk, sit, and lie down.
Then Dr. Black will use the ultrasound to look at the area of pain to help with diagnosis! If indicated she will then look at any imaging done elsewhere.
Lastly, Dr. Black will discuss the findings, diagnosis, and treatment options. If needed, labs and imaging can be ordered as well. Here is the thing. Dr. Black will take time to show you pictures and make sure you understand what is going on with YOUR body.
If procedures are agreed upon, then these may be schedule on a different day if appointment time has come to an end. But procedures are usually scheduled less than 1 week out.
